Doe-C-Doe
Otto Dining Set
This dining set debuted at the NeoCon 2010 in the Furniture Revolution Gallery. Able to be flat packed the Otto Table has a utility most outdoor furniture doesn’t. Along with the stacking stools transport is a cinch. Eight legs, two brackets, one table top and you’ve got a patio ready for the next cook out or birthday party.
Sage in Design
Working with Sage in Design has offered me the opportunity to design fluid forms and simply elegant public seating pieces while using sustainable materials.

This rocking chair was inspired by Kinesthetic Learning. Kinesthetic learning is a teaching and learning style in which learning takes place by the student actually carrying out a physical activity. It is common for these learners to focus on two different things at the same time.
They will remember things by going back in their minds to what their body was doing. It only seemed fit to create a motion chair. Used either as a comfy reading location or a headset listening center, the Doe-c-Doe rocking chair will benefit students through kinesthetic learning.
Sink Friends
Focusing on a smaller stature, Sink Friends are for the juvenile user. Adult height sinks are normally a burden for youth because they lack the ability to reach the faucet, and in some cases turning the knob to start the flow of water. In pursuit of solving those pesky problems in the bath room, Crockie the stool brings the sink to their level. Tissues from the elephants nose, tail towel rack, and extra storage are just the things a youth can enjoy. Hygiene taught in a fun and child friendly way.
Battleship Cabinet
My search began with the needs of the dining room. Investigating what activities transpire and the reoccurring themes that happen there. I set out to solve the game storage dilemmas as well as socializing “family” again.
TAbel TWee
While roaming around in New York I stumbled on this company’s booth at ICFF. Green Grove Design produces three-dimensional art as functional furniture, light fixtures, fine art and sculpture. The company uses Robal Glass as a primary material; Robal Glass is made of 100% recycled glass in soy-based and other resins. TABel TWee questions why Robal Glass to be formed into a slab? Why can’t a two part molding style work? This “experiment” asks what the material really can do.
Apis Lamp Group
The Apis Lamp Group was designed to expand the accessories available at Lunar Lounge Design, a retro-modern furniture manufacturer. Specializing in plywood pieces, Lunar Lounge asked that I revisit their collections. In choosing bent plywood the company was able to manufacture the lamps more efficiently due to similar fabrication and finishing processes. Three sizes of lamps are available ranging from floor to table but all use the same size mold, they are just cut on a different angle.
Coat Wack
Well its one way to store those beloved hand knit scarves your grandma gave you for Christmas.
A little wacky, but practical this clever rack organizes the most unruly apartment. Pose your shoes in the bent plywood enclosure and decorate with coats, sweaters and hats. When looking at existing coat racks I decided that it was time for shenanigans!

Cultivate Desk
To examine the practices of sustainable design by introducing a product to children and schools. Benefiting the students directly by educating through experiences. The Cultivate Desk proposal introduces an ergonomic, low VOC, recyclable, easily manufactured great looking piece of children’s school equipment.
Otto Cafeteria Group
Located in Mumbai, India the American School of Bombay requested new cafeteria tables for their school. Working with Loll Designs I developed the Otto group. Designed to be noticed at two view points, the tables had to be striking from the floor and balcony above the cafeteria. Using simple lines to break the material down into smaller shapes the table took on a 3-D quality. The lines in the material were also useful when manufacturing and shipping the tables. Allowing the CNC to create smaller pieces when using a 4’ x 8’ sheet. The shape of the table has three hidden talents. One, it has a wheelchair accessible cantilever. Two, when three tables are pushed together it creates an Octagon. Three, it has equal sides so it can be manipulated on the floor with other tables to create an interesting motif viewed from the balcony.
Bent Laminate Oval Vanity
As part of an extension to an existing piece, DeRose Designs asked that I create a series that could expand his product line. Oval Vanity Series can take on a classic or contemporary look by changing the veneer or laminate in the bath creating a personal expression of the consumer. Additional features include the ability to use a vessel or recessed vessel.
The center cubby can act as towel storage, a display area, or left empty.
Plaid Wire Chair
Using the capabilities of an OMCG wire bender I designed the chair shown here. Made either entirely or mostly from a computer numeric controlled bent wire. Possibilities exist for making this chair out of shopping cart parts or other recycled materials. The Plaid Wire Chair is currently being shown on the Sage in Design Website.
Innen Centerpiece Vase
Developed as a centerpiece for a show at the DDC (Domus Design Collection) in New York, Innen can be
translated in German as “inside.” The name of this vase brings meaning to its surface decoration with little pillows of plastic pushing from the inside out. Using FSC certified substrates and veneers this piece can be laser cut and assembled with water base glues. The pillow detail is made from a corn plastic sheet that is vacuum formed and pressure fit into place. The vase itself is an iced tea glass found at a local thrift store.
Ceramics Works
Before starting a career designing furniture I had an interest in wheel thrown ceramics. This collection of vessels was the transition into the furniture world for me. Upholstered and pillow- like forms emerged from my new found love for furniture.
Bent Wine Rack
To ensure proper aging, all wine has some air in the bottle to begin with. What’s important is to ensure the cork remains moist so no additional air in allowed to enter the bottle. That’s why it’s advised to store your wine horizontally to keep the cork from cracking or shrinking, thus admitting unwanted air. By placing the bottles in the black leather cuffs, your wine will be stored properly while still presenting it in a unique and stylish way.
My Design philosophy
Furniture design has been an essential part of my life since the first time I sat in a chair. From that moment, I knew I could make it better. It’s an odd first thought about a chair, I know, but my relationship with furniture is different. These sorts of thoughts intrigue me to this day and translate clearly into my design aesthetic. I think of myself as a problem solver, one who can balance sculptural form, utility, and balance with actual function. My focus is on creating furniture for public spaces, children’s facilities, and the contract furniture market. No matter what route I take, I always aim to make something better by way of my design.
